Weight Management & Activity Tracking

More than two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese, according to the Weight-Control Information Network.  The latest studies conclude that a successful weight-loss plan involves monitoring calorie intake and expenditure.  iMPak Health has developed a program using a Health Journal for Food in conjunction with a credit-card-sized step counter targeted at helping people track their food intake and their overall activity over time.  They can become more aware of how their choices of foods and activity impact their overall weight and BMI.

The key to acheiving and maintaining a healthy weight isn't about short-term dietary changes.  It's about a lifestyle that includes healthy eating, regular physical activity, and balancing the number of calories you consume with the number of calories your body uses.  Staying in control of your weight contributes to good health now and as you age.

Sleep Management

"I'm tired of being tired all the time!"

"I just wish I could fall asleep!"
Poor sleep health is a pervasive problem with 25 percent of U.S. adults reporting insufficient sleep or rest at least 15 out of every 30 days. The public health burden of chronic sleep loss and sleep disorders, coupled with low awareness of poor sleep health among the general population, health care professionals, and policymakers, necessitates a well-coordinated strategy to improve sleep-related health.

Most problems with sleep fall into three main categories:- Insomnia
- Feeling tired all the time even with sleep
- Lack of sleep due to erratic schedules or working non-daytime shifts
(To learn more about these categories, visit our Facebook page).

The iMPak Sleep Assessment and Monitoring card enables patients to monitor their sleeping habits during the night - in the comfort of their own home and get a better baseline of their actual sleep.  The sleep assessment card is worn during the night and tracks overall activity levels associated with sleep and combines that knowledge with common daily symptoms into a core sleep assessment as well as a way to monitor the impact of changes to the sleep routine to improve sleep patterns.  If a potential sleep disorder is clear, recommendations will be made to see a local physician specializing in sleep disorders - at which time the data collected can be shared as baseline assessment results.

Everyone wants a "good night's sleep," and iMPak Health is striving to empower people to achieve that goal...each and every night!

Stress Management

The presence of stress in people's daily life can impact their overall health or make managing a chronic condition even tougher.  Stress can increase blood pressure, heart rates, headaches, insomnia, chronic pain, fatigue, and a weakened immune system.  iMPak Health has recognized the need to track and trend the impact of stress for a person through an electronic journal targeting the most common symptoms of stress as well as depression.  This information can easily be added to data collected through the SleepTrak device to determin if sleeping patterns may be caused from difficulty in managing stress or to the overall management of a chronic condition such as congestive heart failure or adult asthma.  Once a clinician gets a better feel for the overall emotional wellness of the individual through the use of the electronic stress and depression journal, it is easier for the clinician to more holistically treat a person's overall health and wellness.

Glucose Screening

According to the most recent statistics, diabetes was the sixth leading cause of death, and the fifth leading cause of death from disease in 2007.  Controlling diabetes can significantly reduce the chances for chronic illnesses, such as a stroke.  iMPak Health is developing a device to aid in rapidly screening individuals as well as large populations for pre-diabetes or risk for developing diabetes.  The device will test small blood samples and wirelessly transmit the results to a Bluetooth 4.0 enabled phone where the results can be displayed and forwarded to the appropriate care providers.  While the device is not appropriate for daily use by diabetics, our solution will help identify people at risk for diabetes early so care and lifestyle changes can potentially reverse the direction of diabetes in their life.

Pain Management

More than 25% of Americans over the age of 20 suffer from some form of pain.  In fact, pain is the most common reason people seek the care of a physician, often serving as an indication that something is wrong.  Pain can be mild and occasional, to severe and constant, and a person's response to pain medication and treatments is highly individualized.  Currently, physicians often encourage their patients to keep a handwritten diary of their pain intensity and response to pain medication, which can be a cumbersome process for patients, and seldom provides physicians with reliable or actionable data about the patient's response to their prescribed treatment.  The iMPak Health Journal for Pain empowers patients to easily record their pain levels before and after their prescribed medication regimen, providing physicians with readily available, useful, patient information and reports.  The Heatlh Journal for Pain provides a consumer engaged method for date and time stamp pain levels and the impact of both long-acting and short medications not readily seen before.
